Comprehensive Biomarker Analysis

Standard lab panels were built to catch disease. The reference ranges are wide enough to include most of the population, which means a result can read as normal while your biology is operating well below where it should be. Dr. Ghiyam runs panels that go considerably further, including inflammatory markers, sex hormone metabolites, fasting insulin, ApoB, Lp(a), oxidative stress indicators, and nutrient cofactor status, and reviews every finding as a single clinical picture rather than a column of flagged values. Most patients who come to us have had bloodwork done before. Most have never had it read this way.

Who this is for:
Services like Function Health run a broad marker set and return the results. There is no physician interpreting them in the context of how you feel, what your history shows, or what your goals are. A ferritin of 28 reads as normal on a standard report. In the context of fatigue, training four days a week, and a patient who used to recover overnight and now takes three days, it tells a different story. That kind of interpretation is what this panel is designed to enable, and it requires a physician, not a dashboard.s.

What makes this different from Function Health or your primary care panel:
Standard testing typically looks for disease rather than optimization opportunities. Our comprehensive panels evaluate inflammatory markers, metabolic efficiency, nutrient status, hormone metabolites, oxidative stress, and much more—creating a detailed map of your current state and identifying subtle imbalances years before they would trigger conventional alarm bells. This gives us the precision data needed to design truly personalized protocols.

Benefits Include:
Patients who come in having had standard bloodwork elsewhere typically leave their first review with Dr. Ghiyam with something most of them have not had before: a clear clinical explanation for symptoms they were told had no basis. The panel does not just expand what is measured. It changes what is possible to know, and what is possible to do about it.

What this panel measures that standard bloodwork does not:
Conventional panels are calibrated for disease detection, not individual optimization. We routinely run markers most primary care physicians do not order: Lp(a), ApoB, hs-CRP, fasting insulin, free testosterone, SHBG, DHEA-S, sex hormone metabolites, and oxidative stress markers, among others. Dr. Ghiyam reviews every panel personally and interprets findings against your symptoms, your history, and your goals, not against a population reference range.

What the testing process actually looks like:
For most patients it is a single blood draw. Concierge and Executive members can arrange mobile phlebotomy, which means no lab visit at all. Results are typically available within 5 to 7 business days, at which point Dr. Ghiyam reviews the findings with you directly and walks through what the data means for your protocol.

How biomarker tracking works over time:
A single panel gives you a baseline. The clinical value compounds when you track the same markers across 3 to 6 month intervals, because you can see how your biology is actually responding to the protocol rather than relying on how you feel on a given day. After your initial panel, Dr. Ghiyam determines which markers warrant closer monitoring based on your findings and goals. Annual comprehensive panels then give us the broader picture and a clear measure of how much has shifted.
